Our Teachers

Both teachers at ABC Care have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Lead Teacher has 23+ years experience in professional childcare. Educational Assistant has 5+ years in professional childcare here at ABC Care. Long-term employment, low turn-over. Low child/teacher ratio. Full class is 9 students. ABC Care established in 1999.

Philosophy

Objectives as a teacher: Play style learning involving families as decision makers; foster problem solving; encourage self-initiative behavior; build respect for self, others and property (Using the “Guiding Principles for the Full Participation of Young Children” New Mexico’s Early Learning System).

Methods used: Pre-planned play with objectives; pace activities to include all requirements by end of season; ask for solutions don’t always fix for them; ask their interest on subjects but also reinforce responsibility to gain an interest in all necessary subjects; give respect to them and example care for property and persons.

How is effectiveness assessed and evaluated: Are the children having fun learning? Is there proof of progress in all areas of teaching? Am I continuing my education to learn new ideas of teaching? Am I still having fun?

Why is teaching important to me: Children are our future. Invest a season, reap a generation. All children should experience high-quality childhood programs

The environment at ABC Care strives to be safe and fun. The development centers contribute to actibe learning both inside and outside the center. The playground assists in the improvement of the motor skills.

About our program

We are a small school. Low teacher/child ratios, Keeping it fun! We help children learn through creative play and hands-on activities. We teach respect for persons and property and create a safe environment for development using the kids’ natural curiosities.
