Our Teachers
I’ve been working with kids for over 12 years. My favorite thing to do is offer opportunities for them to explore with their imagination. I opened my program because I remember being a kid and hating regular daycare centers. That’s why I strive to make my program warm and personable. Every single child that goes through my program is recognized at their schools for being kind and exercising good Samaritan values.
Testimonials
My girls have been with JoEllen Bennington at The Fuzzy Slipper for quite some time now! Almost 6 years. We’ve moved to other daycares and ALWAYS ended up right back here…at The Fuzz, our home away from home! It was a blessing to have linked our lives together!! The space and energy that Jojo gives to these kids is irreplaceable. She is a part of our life, but truly she is a part of our family. We are FOREVER grateful for The Fuzzy Slipper, where shoes are optional, but kindness and respect are not, where our kids love each other and all things around them! Even mud
and bugs…
THANK YOU for creating this opportunity, Jo!!
If you’re in need of full or part time childcare or even just a drop in, our family highly recommends The Fuzz!!! Your kids will flourish and so will you!!

Jojo is the most thoughtful, loving and caring person to watch children. She really gives her heart. She watched my daughter for 3 years and they have an amazing bond. She’s playful, energetic and still keeps in contact to this day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!

Jojo was there for me and my son during the most difficult time in our lives. I couldn’t be more grateful with how my son was taken care of while he was in her care. I needed someone that I could trust and knew was going to have the best care. Jojo did just that, from field trips, to learning, farm animals, arts and crafts, nutritious food and unconditional love and attention. Im not sure how I would have managed being a newly single woman grieving the loss of his dad and still trying to navigate life if it wasn’t for her. We appreciate everything she has ever done and my now 4th grader will forever have the best memories. Thank you Jojo we appreciate you more than you will ever know.

We love Jojo and miss seeing her every day! Jo is caring and compassionate. She lets kids explore and learn and truly has a heart for them! She came through for us in a pinch and we ended up not wanting to leave! Even my older son wanted to skip school and stay to play with his brother. I loved picking my kids up knowing they were out in the fresh air and having opportunities to learn and grow with their peers.

Our family has been so fortunate to have found Jojo and the Fuzzy Slipper. The outdoor exploration, where our son can make big discoveries, find his physical limits, have exposure to animals, and all while being supervised, are some of the many things on our list for likes. He has made friends and has grown into a young man who shares and is kind. The space and guidance from Jojo has been invaluable. Jojo is flexible, supportive, stable, patient, and very educated. The nature base of the Fuzzy Slipper is excellent and just what our son needed to thrive. In this nurturing environment he is having beautiful and fulfilling life experiences, all while hitting big milestones. We would be lost without this valuable resource.

Philosophy
My space is created to allow for an open- ended, imagination driven style of play. My mission is to encourage learning through movement and play. My role is Facilitator of Fun.
I know that you are looking for a safe environment where your babies and toddlers are engaged, happy and well cared for. This is what I offer you.
My background is in education. I have taught both children and adults. My mission statement is taken from Ms. Frizzell from the Magic School Bus. I believe children should be allowed to take chances, make mistakes and get dirty in order to learn. For this to happen children need a safe environment filled with patience, love and respect. I offer this in abundance.
The goal of my home daycare is to give your small children the experience of daily love and care, laughter, adventure, creative opportunities and moments for reflection.
As a Facilitator of Fun, my skills include eye contact and listening. I am responsible for observing, seeing them, looking at every ‘look at me!’ and hearing what they have to say. It is important to me that children in my care feel seen and heard. I support their play by creating spaces and supplying them with the tools needed that allow them to build the world’s they imagine. Best Job Ever!
Location
We are located close to I-40 for easy commuter access. We are located near Natural History and Explora museums school the aquarium and the zoo, and old town, which is very convenient for fieldtrips!
